Roulette Etiquette

Roulette

Aside from the normal rules of roulette, there is also an unspoken (and in some cases, spoken) etiquette that applies to the game. After all, it is a very classy game that has been around for ages. You should respect the customs!

Be Pleasant
We know it can be difficult, especially on those occasions where lady luck seems to have abandoned you. However, being a potty mouth or knocking over the chips belonging to the guy next to you are a good way to land on the radar of the pit boss (which is something you generally want to avoid). When the dealer announces "no more bets", it is in your best interests to take heed. Bets made after that point will not be honored, and the pit boss will definitely have noticed you at that point!

Don't Forget to Tip
Of course it isn't mandatory, but it is considered proper roulette etiquette to at least tip when you decide to leave the table, especially if you've been playing for a while. Roulette dealers (also known as Croupiers) probably get stiffed on average a lot more than your average waitress, but that still doesn't make it right. Many roulette regulars believe that the dealer should be tipped every ten spins. Your level of generosity will likely coincide with how well you are doing in the game, and the dealers understand that.

Mind Your Drink
If you're enjoying an alcoholic beverage during your game of roulette, never place your drink on the table. No matter how careful you think you are, it's not worth it. In a professional casino, they will remind you in a hurry. Many casinos will charge you a nominal fee if you do end up spilling your drink onto the table somehow. A ledge for your drink should be provided near the bottom of the table.

Now that you've brushed up on your roulette manners, go have some fun!
